Service-a-thon: A Fundraiser for a Good Cause

On Saturday, November 9th our students, families and partner charities came together to practice the corporal works of mercy:

  1. Feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, and clothe the naked by making care packages for our homeless brothers and sisters

  2. Educate the ignorant by supporting and making care packages for students in India (who otherwise may not have a chance at education)

  3. Pray for the dead by participating in a prayer walk to remember all of those who have passed away and for all of those in our prayer book. We will also spread wood chips around the cemetery.

  4. Help those who are sick or vulnerable by making baby hygiene kits

  5. Spread joy and love by making Christmas cards

We heard stories from Little Angels, John Paull II Life Center and Catholic Charities about how little contributions as these make a big difference. We reflected on how building relationships while serving creates a stronger community whether near or far. Here is what the children accomplished in a few hours all with a card of encouragement and love:

  • John Paul II Life Center - 73 Mother care packages

  • Catholic Charities - 75 Baby hygiene kits

  • Mobile Loaves and Fishes - 59 Sock packs

  • Little Angels - 25 cards to students in India (students enjoyed making lentil soup kits that they took home!)

  • Community First! Village - 173 Christmas cards

  • Dell Children's Hospital - 21 Get Well cards

  • Maryhill - Clearing land/making more than we can count of wood chips for our cemetery!

See pictures from the day.

Consider sponsoring a child/sponsor a family if you were unable to join us - donation.

At the end of November we will have an online raffle/silent auction that proceeds will go toward supporting our mission of educating children and families. On Tuesday, December 10th, our students will announce winners via Facebook Live.

How do you practice the corporal works of mercy?
