Chemistry Guide - High School

Tuesday/Thursdays, 45 minutes, 32 weeks plus August trainings

Qualifications:

  • Advanced training in chemistry

  • Formation in Catholic understanding of the sciences as interpreting “The Book of Nature”/synthesis of faith and reason

Responsibilities:

  • Use Novare or other approved biology textbook for year-long pre-IB or honors level chemistry class

  • Create a year-long syllabus prior to school year

  • Promptly enter grades, feedback, and lessons in LMS

  • If needed use Zoom for M/W/F office hours.

Humanities Guide - High School

Tuesday/Thursdays, 2-45 minute sections, 32 weeks plus August trainings

Qualifications:

  • Advanced training in the humanities

  • Experience in the homeschool or alternative education environment

  • Familiarity with Montessori, Charlotte Mason, and classical liberal philosophy of education

Responsibilites:

  • Alpha Humanities: Introductory Great Books seminar (Tuesdays), Rhetoric - Public Speaking, Dictation, Written Composition, and Essays (Thursdays)

  • Beta Humanities: Honors-level Great Books seminar (Tuesdays), Rhetoric - Public Speaking, Essays, and Capstone Projects (Thursdays)

  • Create a year-long syllabus prior to school year

  • Promptly enter grades, feedback, and lessons in LMS

  • Regularly meet with director to assess program and performance

  • Work with student services and director to address behavior and academic concerns

  • If needed, use Zoom for additional M/W/F office hours

Latin Guide - High School

Tuesday/Thursday, 2 sections of 45 minutes, 32 weeks plus August training

Qualifications:
- Prior use of Lingua Latina or natural Latin methods
- classics background

Responsibilities:

  • Latin 3/4 - LLPSI Roma Aeterna. T/Th, 45 minutes

  • Latin 1/2 - LLPSI Familia Romana T/Th, 45 minutes

  • Create year-long syllabus prior to school year

  • Provide regular actionable feedback

  • Promptly enter lessons and grades into LMS

  • If needed, use Zoom for M/W/F office hours.

ECONOMICS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP - HIGH SCHOOL

Thursdays, 1 section, 45 minutes (plus outside project time)

Qualifications:

  • Business and economics background

Responsibilities:

  • Teach basic economics alongside Catholic Entrepreneurship Design Experience (from CUA)

  • Foster microenterprise projects for students.

  • Create a year-long syllabus and update LMS

  • Provide regular actionable feedback

  • If needed, use Zoom for office hours M/W/F

LATIN GUIDE - ELEMENTARY

Tuesday/Thursdays, about 2.5 hours daily for 30 weeks plus August trainings (4 sections)

Qualifications:

  • Prior use of natural method Latin or advanced classics background

Responsibilities:

  • Latin Through Stories L1-4 (T/Th)

  • Create year-long syllabus prior to school year and promptly enter lessons into LMS

  • Provide regular actionable feedback

  • Assist parents with Latin practice at home

Bethlehem - lead guide

Tuesday/Thursday, 9:15-3:45, 31 weeks of instruction plus teacher/parent training in August

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Montessori, Charlotte Mason, and classical liberal philosophies of education

  • Experience guiding students with oral and written narration

  • Experience with Socratic seminar or literature circles

  • Advanced formation in the humanities, including Catholic theology

  • Excellent classroom management based in preventive discipline

Responsibilities:

  • Guide the class in recitations (Bible, poetry), oral narration of catechetical reading, literature, history, geography, and written composition

  • Develop daily lesson plans with director based on curriculum provided

  • Provide “home room” stability and consistency of discipline, including classroom chores and duties, routines, entry and exit practices (Montessori style)

  • Record progress and provide actionable feedback

  • Prompt entry of daily lesson plans in LMS

  • Team teaching and working with classroom aide to create positive environment

  • Communicate with parents and director concerning student behavior and academic issues

  • Be prepared for lessons and arrive promptly at 9:15, T/Th. Close up the classroom by 3:45.
